01
Does an NFC review tag or business card work with every smartphone?
Does an NFC review tag or business card work with every smartphone?
Virtually every modern smartphone works instantly without any setup. From the Apple iPhone XS (released in 2018) onward and on nearly all Android devices from the past eight years, the built-in NFC reader is active continuously in the background.
Customers simply hold their phone within 2 to 4 centimeters of the tag. There is no need to switch on an NFC toggle in the control panel. For the rare devices without a functioning NFC antenna (or if a customer has manually turned off NFC), we can include a subtle QR code on the back as a universal fallback. This ensures nobody is left out.
02
Does a customer need to download an app or open their camera first?
Does a customer need to download an app or open their camera first?
No, absolutely not. That is precisely the core value of Just Design Loops: no separate app, no downloads from the App Store or Google Play, and no account registration required.
As soon as the smartphone is brought near the card or tag, the mobile operating system (iOS or Android) immediately reads the contactless radio signal. An elegant native notification automatically appears at the top of the screen. A single tap on that notification opens the review page or digital contact card directly in the default web browser (Safari, Chrome, or Samsung Internet). Visitors arrive exactly where they need to be in under two seconds.
03
Can I change the review link or destination page later if my business changes?
Can I change the review link or destination page later if my business changes?
Yes, without needing to replace or reprint your physical carriers. Our NFC chips are not programmed with a static, hardcoded URL, but with a secure dynamic link within the JDL platform.
If your Google Business Profile changes, if your salon or workshop relocates, or if you want to temporarily redirect the tag to a seasonal offer or online appointment scheduler: we update the underlying target in software. The physical tag on your counter stays right where it is and forwards instantly to the new destination.
04
What is the difference between an NFC review tag and an NFC business card?
What is the difference between an NFC review tag and an NFC business card?
The underlying contactless principle is identical, but the application and objective differ fundamentally:
- NFC review tag: A stationary carrier placed on your counter, bar, register, or waiting area (at barbershops, restaurants, or garages). The goal is one focused customer action: after paying or waiting, briefly tapping their phone to immediately open the official Google Review submission dialog.
- NFC business card: A personal card that you carry with you. Whenever you meet a business partner or prospective client, they tap your card with their phone. Instead of a throwaway paper business card, your interactive digital profile (vCard) opens instantly. With one tap, they save your name, phone number, email, address, and LinkedIn directly into their smartphone contact list.
05
Can we mount the review tag on metal (cash register, espresso machine, or workbench)?
Can we mount the review tag on metal (cash register, espresso machine, or workbench)?
Standard NFC chips do not function when applied directly to bare metal. Metal disrupts and absorbs the high-frequency electromagnetic field (13.56 MHz) of the chip and smartphone, rendering the tag unreadable.
For mounting on metallic surfaces — such as a stainless steel espresso machine in hospitality, an aluminum counter profile, a metal cash register terminal, or a steel tool chest in an auto garage — JDL supplies specialized on-metal tags. These feature a thin ferrite shielding layer between the chip and adhesive backing, keeping the radio signal completely intact. Always indicate during your inquiry if the carrier will be mounted on metal.
06
What happens if a review tag or business card gets damaged or lost?
What happens if a review tag or business card gets damaged or lost?
The NFC chip itself is passive (contains no battery) and is safely encased in durable material, meaning normal wear and tear has no impact on its readability. Should a carrier become unusable due to heavy physical impact, fracture, or theft, there is no need to worry: because management happens in the cloud, we deactivate the unique identifier of the old chip and remap your active workflow immediately to a replacement tag.
The exact warranty policy (such as complimentary replacement for manufacturing defects within 12 months) and the fixed unit cost for an expedited replacement upon loss or theft are yet to be finalized by Joey / JDL.

How much does an NFC review tag or business card cost at Just Design Loops?
How much does an NFC review tag or business card cost at Just Design Loops?
Our philosophy is complete honesty: we craft both the tangible physical cards and tags as well as the reliable web environment powering them. We pair industrial-grade hardware with a meticulously designed mobile experience.
The final volume pricing for individual tags, business bundles (for example, 1 counter stand combined with 2 business cards), and the billing model for the dynamic link environment (one-time purchase vs. a modest annual management fee) are currently being calculated by JDL. 08
How quickly are the cards and tags delivered after ordering?
How quickly are the cards and tags delivered after ordering?
The digital environment is ready very quickly: as soon as we receive your business details and desired target destination, we configure the secure web infrastructure and dynamic redirects within 24 to 48 hours.
The production timeline for physical carriers depends on the selected edition: standard JDL carriers can be dispatched quickly, while bespoke options with custom color printing, silkscreening, or laser engraving follow a dedicated craft cycle.
Guaranteed lead times in business days per batch size and terms for expedited rush delivery are yet to be finalized between JDL and local production partners.
09
Can we have the carriers and cards fully customized in our own brand style?
Can we have the carriers and cards fully customized in our own brand style?
Yes, we design cards and tags so they integrate seamlessly into your business. Whether you run a sleek, minimalist hair salon, a vibrant restaurant, or a professional automotive workshop: your logo, brand colors, and typography can be applied to both the physical carrier and the mobile landing screen.
The minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom printing per material type (such as matte recycled PVC, bamboo/hardwood, or anodized metal with an embedded chip) is yet to be determined by JDL.
10
What happens to the privacy and personal data of customers who tap the tag?
What happens to the privacy and personal data of customers who tap the tag?
The privacy of your customers is 100% safeguarded. The NFC tag is a passive radio transmitter: nothing is transferred from the smartphone to the tag, and absolutely zero personal data is read from the device (no name, phone number, IP address, or device identifier).
The chip simply transmits a secure web link. The browser opens directly into the official Google Review dialog, where the customer logs in under their own trusted Google account. JDL does not place advertising cookies, runs no tracking pixels from Meta or TikTok, and stores no visitor profiles. Completely compliant with European GDPR regulations.
11
What happens if an unhappy customer taps the tag and wants to leave a negative review?
What happens if an unhappy customer taps the tag and wants to leave a negative review?
In practice, a review tag primarily encourages the large majority of happy customers who were delighted with their experience, but tend to forget to write a review once they return home.
Regarding negative feedback, our policy is crystal clear: under Google's official terms of service ('review gating'), it is strictly forbidden to technically block negative reviews or selectively turn customers away. However, JDL can configure the dynamic web flow to present a friendly service checkpoint first: "Not completely satisfied with your haircut or car repair? Let the business owner know directly via this note". The direct shortcut to the public Google Review form always remains fully accessible, adhering strictly to Google's rules.
12
Can I see how often a tag has been tapped per day or week (analytics)?
Can I see how often a tag has been tapped per day or week (analytics)?
Yes, that is possible at the server level. Because each physical carrier is mapped to a unique identifier in our Cloudflare edge system, we anonymously log when an interaction takes place.
This allows you to see on which days or hours the most reviews are initiated, and when using multiple tags, compare which workstation, counter, or team member generates the highest engagement.
Which analytics will be visible in real time within the standard client portal and which reports (such as automated monthly email digests) belong to an extended service tier are yet to be determined by JDL.
